"O body swayed to music, O brightening glance, How can we know the dancer from the dance?"  (William B. Yeats)

She is a certified bellydance instructor with the Norwegian Dance Association (Norges Danseforbund).

Maikki has completed several intensive studies with the leading oriental dance instructors from Egypt, Europe and the US, and for many years trained extensively with one of the pioneer founders of bellydance in Norway, Hilde Lund.

She organized the traditional

1001 Nights Hafla twice a year, founded the Oriental Sunday-series and is a regular hostess for oriental dance events.

She was the President of

Al Farah, the National Association for Oriental Dance in Norway for 3 years.

Oriental dance is not just about technique, it's an ancient culture. Maikki has devoted years of travelling to Cairo to study the culture and the arabic language

to incorporate this into her

dance education.

Maikki is known for her musicality, technique and exciting choreographies, and her repertoir includes modern raqs sharki, classic cabaret style, and folkloric dances from the North-African and Middle-eastern region.

She is especially known for her traditional Egyptian baladi.
